University of Madras organized Future skills and Entrepreneurial Education webinars

The events took place June 11 and 12, 2020.
The first webinar focused on Mentoring Entrepreneurship. Mr. Mahesh Krishnan, Corporate Trainer cum Consultant and Certified Train The Trainer (Bodhih , Bangalore-INDIA) and Mentor (City & Guilds UK) was the speaker and delivered  webinar on the theme “Mentoring Entrepreneurship”.  During his presentation, he covered various topics like employability, how to cultivate the habit of making oneself employable, how to crack interview, how to become an entrepreneur, finding ones own business ideas, what are the key attributes needed for an entrepreneur, start up process, design, thinking and so on. He has also narrated some of the success stories of different kinds of entrepreneurs, like Madras breakfast bar (packed breakfast), ID idli and vada batter. He gave various hints about starting business and funding sources (banks, financial institutions and government funding and training Institutions like MSME, EDII TN, a Tamil Government Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute and Business Youth Starting Together (BYST). At the end of the session, he volunteered to provide mentoring and consultancy to the persons who are in need of it.
The second webinar focused on Social Entrepreneurship. Mrs Stella Mathew, a Certified Counsellor and NGO for the Palliative Care was the speaker and delivered webinar on the topic “Social Entrepreneurship”. She highlighted the Social entrepreneurs, who develop innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social problems namely Ambitious and Persistent and Tackling major social issues.  Golden butterflies is a charity foundation who help child patients & families who are suffering from incurable, chronic  or  terminal illness, provide counseling & psychosocial support along with ART therapy in hospitals and homes as well as  give financial support wherever required.
She took the session in an interactive manner touching the current COVID 19 pandemic and the kind of stress people are facing. She addressed many issues related to job security, caring of the elderly people needs at this situation, education for the children along with present health scenario.
