The Rajkot based RK University is a State Private university established and approved by Government of Gujarat under Private University Act 2009 and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC), under section 22 of UGC Act, 1956. The RK Group of Colleges was established in 2005 and grew rapidly to be honoured with the Private University status in 2011. RKU was the first such university in the Saurashtra Region. Currently, RKU offers more than 50 courses in Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and Applied Science & Computer Applications - from Diploma to Doctoral level, with over 7,000 students and over 450 staff. The University is driven by the belief that it is a place where “Change” happens. The faculties constantly change their pedagogies and instructional approaches to match industry requirements and student needs. Students are encouraged to go on to change society with the knowledge they acquire at RKU. RKU is especially proud of its incubation and entrepreneurship body – K S Patel Centre for Entrepreneurship (KSPCE), which has the status of a nodal centre to facilitate start-ups and provide innovation and incubation support. It operates through a unique Scheme of Government of Gujarat aimed at facilitating enterprise development in the Saurashtra region. The objective of KSPCE Nodal centre at RKU is to develop and refine the entrepreneurial competencies of any citizen willing to take up innovation and entrepreneurship by providing them with financial support to aid the development of their innovative product and business ideas. The specialized inputs enable students to learn the nitty-gritty of innovation, financial and marketing management, starting right from their intake at the University. Thus, they emerge as dynamic thinkers and doers. The Nodal Centre helps nurture entrepreneurial values in each student by developing their core behavioural values to emerge as creative, competent and confident individuals who are not job seekers but job providers.
