The University of Hyderabad (UoH), one of the major institutions of higher education in India, is largely devoted to postgraduate studies. Founded in 1974, UoH has emerged as a leading centre of teaching and research. Its large campus is located near Gachibowli, which is the IT hub of Hyderabad. With 46 different Departments and Centres organized in 12 Schools of study, UoH has over 400 faculties and over 5,000 students. The School of Economics started three years back. The University offers around 150 different programmes of study ranging from doctoral studies to Masters Degrees, as well as a range of postgraduate diplomas and short-term courses by Distance mode. UoH hosts an increasing number of foreign scholars in the popular Study in India Programme. The University has built up a reputation for providing high quality academic training, and has been recognized through a number of awards: PURSE, given by the Prime Minister of India, a grading of A by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). International measures of research excellence also show the pre-eminence of UoH - the University is counted among the top 100 in Asia in many of its academic areas of study. UoH has traditionally had an excellent track record of high quality research. It intends to contribute to the creation of a favourable eco-system for technological innovation by harnessing its potential for research and education through incubators, to impact the marketplace and benefit society in the short-term. For this reasons, UoH has established Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurship unit (TIDE-UOH), which encourages entrepreneurship by providing potential entrepreneurs with innovative ideas in technology through one or more of the following activities: evaluation of ideas and business models, valuation of market potential, infrastructure, mentorship, seed funding, prototype development, networking, technical workshops, etc.
