RKU organized Enlightenment Program on Intellectual Property Rights (in association with SSIP–Government of Gujarat and i-Hub)

The program took place online August 14, 2021. It was inaugurated by Dr. Mohit Gambhir, Director MHRD Innovation Center, Government of India as a Chief Guest, Dr. Dharmendra Mandaliya, Jt. CEO, Gujarat Knowledge Society – GSK, Government of Gujarat as a Guest of Honour and Mr. Hiranmay Mahanta, CEO i-Hub Gujarat as a Guest of Honour
The main objective of the program was to spread awareness on Patents, Trademarks and Designs with other forms of IPRs amongst various stakeholders of the society. The speakers for the session were senior officials from Indian Patents office and reputed IP firms of Gujarat.
Mr. Denish Patel, Executive Vice President of RK University welcomed the guests, media and participants and enlightened the participants about the initiatives taken by RK University towards protecting unique outcome coming out from the university. He outlined the services and facilities available at the KS Patel Centre for Entrepreneurship Development which is the technology business Incubator of RK University including that of designing and filing patents.
Dr. Mohit Gambhir, Director MHRD Innovation Center, briefed the nitty-gritty of Intellectual Property Rights whether to file a patent or not.
Mr. Hiranmay Mahanta, CEO, i-Hub Gujarat, explained that IP needs to be prioritized at all levels as much of the intellectual property (IP) created remains unprotected both on account of lack of awareness and the perception that IP protection is either not required or that the process to obtain it is unnecessarily complicated.
Dr. Dharmendra Mandaliya, Joint CEO, Gujarat Knowledge Society – GKS, Government of Gujarat, enriched participants’ knowledge regarding Government initiatives towards developing IP driven eco-system.
Mr. Dushyant Joshi, Incubation Manager, KS Patel Centre for Entrepreneurship, RK University, gave the vote of thanks to Chief Guest all the dignitaries for sparing out their valuable time to Enlighten the program.
The second half of the program was taken by the IP Experts on specific topics
Ms. Kavita Shah, Patent agent and consultant, guided on Basics of IPR
Ms. Gopi Trivedi, Senior partner at Y. J. Trivedi and Co., explained the Patent Process: key concepts and case studies.
Around 200 participants from different industries sectors, institutes and academia benefited through this Program.
