INNOTAL partners team up to discuss innovations and startups during ICOSTART 2019 Research Conference and Summit on Innovations, Startups and Investments

On December 16 and 17, 2019, RK University organized ICOSTART 2019- a two-day international research conference and summit on Innovations, Startups and Investments along with capacity building workshops.
The KS Patel Centre for Entrepreneurship of RK University succeeded in bringing together researchers, innovators, startups and investors in an endeavor to precipitate a robust ecosystem and to put Rajkot on the global Innovation & Startup map. The conference was co-organized along with Western Sydney University, Australia in partnership with International Centre for Technology and Entrepreneurship-iCreate and 100X VC- a SEBI monitored seed fund from Mumbai and was supported by Industries Commissionerat of Govt. of Gujarat, Gujarat Council of Science and Technology (GUJCOST)  and Student Startup Innovation Policy (SSIP)- Govt. of Gujarat. 315 people participated in the conference from various countries like Australia, Bulgaria, Philippines, UK, Sri Lanka and China besides India.
Though this conference was not part of the initial planning of the INNOTAL project, the project was a great source of inspiration to organize this conference. Coordinator of the The INNOTAL project, Prof. Ivan Stoychev and other experts from Team INNOTAL like Steven Pollard (Uni. of Ulster), Dr. Ruth Diego (Benguet State University, Philippines), Dr Serafin Ngoyahon (Ifugao State University, Philippines) were especially invited as Speakers of the conference.
The conference provided a great platform for Researchers, academicians, startups, VC funds, Accelerators and representatives of Govt. organizations,
The executive vice president of RK University Mr. Denish Patel launched an e-abstract book for participants.The conference had received 129 abstracts of research papers and 42 startups for pitching. Oral presentation of research papers of seven different field i.e. Innovation, Health, Pharmaceutical, Engineering, Computer Science, Science and two management tracks were conducted successfully in parallel sessions on the 2nd day. The news about the conference was taken up by leading newspapers who published and popularized the event through their articles. Valedictory function was held at Seminar hall of school of Engineering and the participants were felicitated by best oral presentation and best startup. There were sixteen best paper presentation awards given away and four startups were adjudged best startups. The investors are now in talks with them for firming up the next steps.
