Final dissemination event organized by University of Madras, India

The final dissemination event organized by University of Madras, India, took place online September 23 - 24, 2021.
36 external stakeholders and 7 university stakeholders participated. The external stakeholders included representatives of other higher education institutions (Bharathidasan University, University of Kashmi, Alagappa University, Tamil Nadu Institute of Labour Studies), several Colleges, NGOs (Southern Industrial Academy for Women Entrepreneurs Development, Sharana Social and Development Organization, Teach for India, Chennai) and representatives from the Confederation of Indian Industry Southern Region and a private company. The university stakeholders included the Vice-Chancellor, the project team, faculty members, administrative/management staff, and students.
Several representatives of the INNOTAL project partners participated in the event and shared information about the achieved results and some good practices, thus giving the opportunity to acquaint the external stakeholders with the rest of the INNOTAL consortium.
The event focused on presenting the results from the project, and discussing the teaching and practice of social entrepreneurship. The project team also shared the various functions and facilities available at the Talent Co-creation Lab created at University of Madras.
External stakeholders and experts discussed the effectiveness of colleges and universities, as well as of the vocational and continuing education systems, in preparing student entrepreneurs and enhancing the entrepreneurial preparedness and motivation of students, as well as in addressing the gender inequality in social entrepreneurship. Good practices for preparing business plans and for identifying financial sources for start-ups was also shared with the students and participants.
Speakers highlighted the challenges and opportunities in Social Entrepreneurship and skill development. They also discussed the various business opportunities available for Women, such as event management, digital marketing, senior care services, skilled manpower agencies, etc. Further, the experts specifically focused on the skills required to become a successful entrepreneur. Experts shared knowledge and ideas on waste management, waste hierarchy, natural capital, supply chain process, solid waste management, recycling process, waste health concepts and their contribution towards social entrepreneurship. Students presented their business plans and the problems and hurdles that they had to overcome in start-ups.
The INNOTAL virtual conference strengthened the collaboration among students, external stakeholders and mentors, especially in the fields of start-ups and social entrepreneurship.
