The final dissemination event organized by Ifugao State University, Philippines, took place online October 6, 2021.
18 external stakeholders and 85 university stakeholders participated. The external stakeholders included representatives of companies, agricultural farms, and other educational institutions (Kalinga State University, Mountain Province State Polytechnic College, Apayao State College, Abra State Institute of Science and Technology), and a representative from University of Southern Mindanao. Some of the external participants are expert members cooperating with the Talent Co-Creation Lab. The university stakeholders included Ifugao State University Officials, the project team, faculty members and key administrative staff, and students.
Ifugao State University Career Development Center (ICDC) organized the Final Dissemination Conference for Stakeholders’ attended by the INNOTAL Project Coordinator, representatives from partner universities and business industries, expert mentors, IFSU Officials, faculty members and students with a theme, “Towards a united multi-stakeholder action to improve employability of graduates.”.
Ifugao State University President, Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon welcomed the participants. The event presented the objectives and gains of the INNOTAL Project through a comprehensive presentation by Dr. Gergana Cisarova-Dimitrova, INNOTAL Project Quality Coordinator. Mr. Steve Pollard, Senior Lecturer from Ulster University shared food practices about interventions that have improved graduates’ employability in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Serafin L. Ngohayon, INNOTAL researcher and ICDC consultant, presented the strategies developed by the INNOTAL project to increase IFSU’s graduates’ employability through its three major services – the Talent Co-Creation Lab (TCCL), the Internship and Traineeship Service (ITS) and the Student-Community Volunteering Service (SCVS). He further revealed the future plans and action of the Center which includes the expansion of curricular programs, conduct of regular trainings on relevant topics that will hone graduates’ business skills, and many more. “Together, we can produce graduates that will create employment for themselves and others and not compete with the already saturated labor market,” he concluded.
The zoom meeting continued with the sharing of insights and recommendations from a faculty member, a student and expert mentors. Ms. Christine Joy Manzano, a participant in the INNOTAL Students’ Business Idea Competition, talked about her experience and came up with suggestions that can be used to better prepare students for such contests. Her talk was followed by a talk by Mr. Richard Marcelo, the adviser of the All-in-Tech group.
Engr. Eric Jude S. Soliman, CEO of Hytec Power Group of Companies, delivered a talk on Crafting and Implementing Business Start-up for Fresh Graduates. In light of the ongoing virus outbreak, he shared a list of pandemic-proof business ideas in the Philippines and how to pandemic-proof such business. Furthermore, Ms. Noemi Liangco, CEO of McDonald’s Santiago Branch and Amancio Farm and Chain of Hotels did not only impart knowledge but kindled enthusiasm in hosting On-The-Job Training (OJT) of students towards effective partnership arrangement. The event ended on a high note with more collaborations and activities springing up.
